One of the best parts of the trip was the 2 Day Highlight tour on Kangaroo Island with our guide from a local tour company. Our guide was an excellent guide who  made us comfortable from the beginning by combining his witty humor and running commentary pertaining anecdotes about the animals and the land, and how to approach the animals with care. Each day included lunch on different campground sites with food and wine provided by the kitchen of the tour company and a tea time at a scenic location with homemade sweets. Each day our guide also donned an apron, toasted garlic bread and grilled the meat of the day on an outdoor grill. He was an well rounded guide indeed! 
 Another memorable moment was the snorkeling excursion at the Great Barrier Reef Mariana Park. The crew for our tour was fantastic. The marine biologist who also doubled as a lifeguard helped me feel at ease in the water and gave me a personal 15 minute, or so, tour of the coral reef and provide knowledge about the different fish we saw as well at the first site. It was such a beautiful and startlingly sight, a must have experience for anyone with visiting Cairns.
