I worked with a travel planner from the travel company from the moment I started planning in September til the trip in January, and she couldn't have been more patient, available, and helpful. We went through several itineraries before settling on one that fit within our budget and included what we wanted most. I had reached out to two touring companies through Zicasso originally and one said there was no feasible way they could plan a trip for us under our requested budget. This tour company not only took on our budget but did everything I asked to help remain in it without question. I'm a bit hands on and so a lot of the hotels I was interested in staying at, or the tours I liked in specific areas I was able to run by the travel planner and get her opinion on it then she handled all the booking. She was able to let it be a team effort versus the company needing to plan the whole thing for us which also allowed us some freedom to decide things on the spot while we were there which led to many spontaneous adventures. They also gave us clear itineraries, tips of how to traverse through our designated country and the kindest airport transfer driver ever, SANDRA!! She made the over 3 hour transfer from the airport to La Fortuna fun, positive and informational. We also arrived to the gift of Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries from the travel company since we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. It was truly a magical trip and we can't wait to go back to Costa Rica with the help of the travel company!

We enjoyed the informational 1968 Mt. Arenal Volcano hike and zip lining. We opted just for the Zip Lines and was told later on that our original add on of The Hanging Bridges was okay to miss since it was pretty difficult to see most of the animals, insects, etc without binoculars. We got a much better view and adventure on the zip lines!
We also added last minute an ATV/Surfing Combo tour that was phenomenal and probably our highlight of the whole trip. We visited the La Fortuna Waterfall on our own and then walked down the main road leading to it stopping by little shops, local art galleries and picked up some fresh coconut water and played with dogs.
I loved our bungalow in La Fortuna and though we didn't get the hot tub suite I feel like we had the best view of the volcano in the whole place. Thank you travel planner for that!!
Costa Ricans are some of the kindest people I have ever met and how they prioritize and choose to live their lives and care for their country was a reminder to myself. They have a large tourist industry but I never felt overcrowded anywhere which is very rare in my experience of traveling.
The travel planner had done a fantastic job per my request mixing in private transfers with shared transfers but in truth those interbuses are so easy I would probably just opt to save the money and take those everywhere. Plus we made a couple of interesting stops along the way when we had to transfer buses. It also forced us to speak more spanish and interact with more locals which I enjoyed greatly.
