OUTSTANDING! Our trip with this travel company was absolutely amazing! This was our 4th time traveling with a Zicasso travel agency, and this agency was above and beyond. Our planner listened to our preferences and created a trip that took us beyond the ordinary. Many travelers to Iceland will experience Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon and the Golden Circle tour, and those are certainly must-see destinations. But as you travel further east along the southern coast, the crowds thin, and the amazing breadth, beauty and diversity of Iceland unfold. While you could drive yourself along this route, you would be missing all the extras that make travelling with our travel planner so enriching: his family is native to Iceland for generations; he has knowledge of and experience with the unique Icelandic geography from glaciers to volcanoes; he is a wonderful storyteller, interspersing folklore along with facts; he is an experienced glacier guide, and will personally take you on a private climbing tour; he knows the most breath-taking views in Iceland and has the powerful off-road vehicle necessary to get you there; he is kind, accommodating, patient, smart and funny. He will not only show you Iceland, he will help you achieve a deeper understanding and appreciation for the unique grandeur of his beloved island. Get off the tour bus! Skip the rental car! Travel privately guided by this travel planner and truly experience Iceland.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

The glacier hike was a fantastic experience! Our planner travels with the necessary gear in his truck - crampons, pick axes, harnesses, and helmets. He is an experienced guide, and told us the how-to's and rules of hiking a glacier. He explained / showed us the movement, the evolution, and features of glaciers. While on the glacier plateau, there wasn't another person in sight - just our family and the planner. Such an incredible hike! Later in the week, when he heard that an ice cave was accessible, we were able to spontaneously add a hike to the ice cave to our day since he had the know-how, the vehicle and the necessary equipment readily available.
We also truly enjoyed a day-long drive through the highlands - excellent photographic opportunities! It was an off-roading adventure as we traversed rivers, climbed steep inclines and drove through black deserts to see the most incredible Icelandic landscapes - for the majority of the day, we didn't see anyone else.
We loved the guesthouse in Hrífunesvegur! The rooms were cozy, and the dinners were wonderful - delicious home-cooked meals at communal tables with travelers from around the world sharing their stories.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I wish our schedules would have allowed a little bit longer trip, so that we could have also seen the western peninsula and the northern coast. And it would have been an extra bonus if we could push away the nighttime clouds to see the northern lights.
