Our two week trip to Italy planned by this travel team was wonderful and met or exceeded our expectations! Virtually everything went smoothly and all hotel accommodations and arrangements were first rate as promised. The private drivers and guides were all outstanding and their local expertise allowed us to maximize our relatively short time in each of our five destinations. The owner and his staff at this company were very attentive to our priorities and responsive to our feedback on their suggestions at every step in planning our trip. As a result, the custom itinerary they put together for us was as close to perfect as possible. As a result, we had just the right mix of planned tours and activities and free time to explore on our own. They also made a number of dinner reservations for us prior to our departure which was a great help. Their excellent support continued throughout our trip. When our flight to Venice was delayed by four hours and we missed our first orientation guided tour in Venice, they quickly rescheduled the guide for the following day. They also went above and beyond in helping us celebrate my wife’s birthday in Tuscany, which was much appreciated. They certainly deserved our five star rating and we would recommend them without reservation.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

This was our first trip to Italy so getting to see and experience the beauty and marvels of Italy and each of our destinations first hand was without doubt thrilling and memorable. We felt we spent three perfect days in each destination so picking favorite parts is not easy. Clearly the art and architecture of Venice, Florence and Rome are at the top of the list. The cathedrals and museums in these three cities and the treasures within can only be fully appreciated in person. Seeing Michelangelo’s David, Pieta and the Sistine Chapel is nothing short of life changing. We loved the balance of our trip between history, culture and nature. Our more restful days in Tuscany and in the Amalfi Coast were amazing and a relaxing respite from the larger cities. We particularly loved wine tasting in Chianti with our guide and exploring the gardens in Ravello. Our “street food” walking tour of Rome on our last night was a surprising highlight.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

The one thing I would try to avoid is renting a car in Florence to get us to and from Tuscany. The car rental office had run out of specific cars and the crowded office was full of upset customers also waiting for cars to be delivered from the airport location. The car rental location also was very close to the train station in Florence and, while very convenient for our next train trip when leaving Florence, the traffic congestion of this area was more than a little stressful especially on our trip to return our car in morning rush hour traffic. The restricted driving zones are very close and difficult to avoid if you miss a turn, which we did despite our GPS. Driving in cities in Italy, as we knew before the trip, is not for the faint of heart. We certainly would not have wanted to miss our stay in the agriturismo near San Gimignano, but using private drivers instead of driving might have been worth it.
