A trip of a lifetime! Almost a month traveling up the coast of Vietnam, finishing with 5 days in Hong Kong. Transfers to and from airports were seamless and timely. We elected to have guides and drivers for at least one day in each city and in several instances spent two consecutive full days with them. Wonderful experience!
The hotels we picked in discussion with our travel agency exceeded all expectations. Great accommodations throughout. At the end of each destination stay, we were sorry to leave both the hotel and our local guide. No fear, the next experience was just as enjoyable. We had a combination of an historical overview, sightseeing, shopping, down-time on our own (important to us) and, where appropriate, the guide specifically familiarized us with how to get around while on our own.
Our travel advisor at this agency was just extraordinary! She was personally familiar with the difference between properties and thus could make appropriate recommendations, She knew what the travel distances would be whether it was to outlying sites, or transfer time to/from airports.
5 stars, easily!
Your overall comments on Zicasso
Stumbled across it by searching for luxury private tours a few years back. Used a Zicasso referral for my 65th b-day trip to Istanbul, Cappadocia and a beach stay in Sharm el-Sheikh. Have told countless people about Zicasso, so many you probably owe me big-time referral considerations.
Saigon/ Ho Chi Minh City varied from the bare subsistence living along the Mekong River to a world class hotel stay. Motorbikes, motorbikes, motorbikes...
Nha Trang: Six Senses Resort and Spa - felt privileged to be able to experience the calm beauty. Staff and service were impeccable.
Hue, Hoi An: two smaller cities, each stay was in a great hotel, sightseeing in ancient ruins, shopping, bespoke suit made at a custom tailor, kind and gentle people.
Hanoi: amazingly sophisticated, nice parks, very walkable. Less remnants of French colonialism than I expected
Ha Long Bay overnight on a luxury junk: Unworldly water and landscapes, good camaraderie amongst the varied guests on board
Hong Kong: a city on steroids, jewelry stores, can't read the signage, stores on upper levels of huge buildings, great subway system on our own after the guide left us with recommendations of where to go, what to see and how to get there. Exactly what we wanted...
Unequivocably, as my wife was celebrating her 60th (shhh!), without prompting two of the hotels brought birthday cakes to our hotel room, one with champagne. But the kicker was as we were leaving Da Nang airport towards Hue, our guide said we had to make a brief roadside stop. About thirty minutes into our trip, we pull up behind a parked car. We got out and were introduced to the woman who manages all the travel agencies activities in all of Vietnam. Having waited roadside who-knows-how-long for our non-specific arrival, she handed Sherri a bouquet of roses and a lovely silk scarf. Unbelievable.
Maybe do a few of the side trips that our agent recommended: Ankgor Wat, DaLat, Sapa. But we declined because of our preference not to move every or every-other-day, but to make almost every stay 3 days or longer (the exception was the overnight trip to/from Can Tho on the Me Kong and the one night aboard the junk in Ha Long Bay. No regrets though...
