Luxury European Vacation Review: Croatia, Slovenia, Dubrovnik. Hvar Wine Tour, Alps Hiking

Overall our European travel agency did a great job.  Our trip to Croatia was just what we wanted and very well planned out.  The hotels that we stayed at were all very nice and the private guides that were booked for us were amazing.  Getting a tour of each city with a private guide was a highlight of each city and very valuable to us when it came to exploring the rest of the city.  All of these guides personally knew our travel agent and took us to places most tourists would never get to experience.  Plus being able to ask a local for the best places to eat lead us to some truly amazing meals at a very "local" price.  We even had a phone call with our travel agent who gave us great details about what we needed to do at each city, and everything was spot on because our travel agent had been to all these cities and knew them in detail.  Our favorite part was for purchasing tickets for one of the ferries.  She gave us directions down to the dock and then said look to your left and you will see a man at a wooden table.  Go talk to him and he will sell you the tickets.  Sure enough it was exactly as she described!

On our trip we had one small issue.  One of our private tour guides confused that date and did not show up for the tour.  When we called the travel agent they immediately called him and said he would leave his house immediately and come pick us up 1.5 hours late for the tour.  The apologized for his confusion and offered to cover our lunch for the day.  Since we had plans for later in the evening and the beach at the resort looked amazing we decided to instead skip the tour and go to the beach.  The travel agent immediately refunded our money, and we found a nice bottle of wine at our next hotel with a note apologizing again for the guide mixing up the time on the tour.  In my mind, this travel agent handle the situation perfectly, was very responsive and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy.  Their response to the situation is why I did not deduct any stars for the tour guide mix up.
