Luxury Travel Review: Croatia 10-day Vacation, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Split, Food & Wine Pairing, History Tours

Bibich food and wine pairing--at this point my husband was still a cynic about Croatian wine because he does not like zinfandel grapes. Well, this experience changed his mind about not only Croatian wine, but also we were both blown away by the quality of the food--we have had too many food experiences where the chef wants to do something different, but it doesn't taste that good--this was different in a really positive way.  I would happily go back for that meal again tomorrow.
Split historical tour--something about this tour just clicked for us, both in historical context but also because (shame on us) we had no idea what a rich history the city had.
Hvar tour--taking a trip around the island to see the Napoleanic fortress and other, less visited places was an unexpected surprise because we understood more about the rich history of what, at first glance, appears to be a hedonistic island.  We also loved the 'under the dome' lunch and the surprise stop at a winery.
Dubrovnik--I have grown up hearing about this special and magical city because my mother led a student tour there in 1963 for Polish students.  I have visited so many places and she, after all, saw it as a 19 year old from Eastern Europe, so I didn't think it would match her high praises--I was wrong.  The city deserves the recognition that it enjoys as one of the unmissable gems--next time we intend to spend more time exploring the side streets and take the cable car up to the fortress.
Rural area south of Dubrovnik--I can't remember the names of the places we visited, but seeing the canal system and how it had been used to power mills in the past was fun as was the wine tasting.  We realized that these places had some of the best food and we'd like to explore them more next time.
