The friendliness of our guide and driver, learning Berber and Arabic words from them while driving, meeting people along the way and learning about their lives, the ability of our local guides to adapt to things that would interest us (especially on the evening food tour of the medina in Fes), getting to go to the home of our guide inside Ait Ben Haddou, our cooking class in Marrakech, our guide telling us about local foods that were not on the menu and then getting the restaurants to cook it for us at the next meal, hiking with our guide (who knew so much about the local plants!!!) in the Rif mountains.
