Travel Review: Africa Safari, Kenya, Nairobi, Hot Air Balloon Tour

Of course seeing the animals in their natural habitat were #1 on our list, and we were not disappointed.  From the moment we were picked up by our Guide from the airstrip for the 1 hour drive through the conservancy to the lodge, the sightings began, and they never stopped.  He was an exceptional Guide and man, who taught us so much about life in the region and the animals.  He was with us from the time he picked us up upon landing in Samburu until he dropped us off 3 days later at the airstrip for departure to Intrepid Mara.  This guide alone was a highlight for both Diane and me.    We loved that it was just the 3 of us for all the drives!   Our time at Intrepid Mara was equally memorable.  Our Guide used all his tracking talents to show us all the species in the Mara (except the elusive Rhino!).  The Migration was late this year, but we didn't miss the show!  The day of our drive to the River wildebeests, zebras and crocodiles were present in mass!  What a spectical.  I must admit, a cheer went up from all the jeeps there to see the crossing when all the animals made it across safely!  We experienced a bush picnic breakfast, Sundowner, balloon ride, and on our final day were treated to a bush breakfast. The wake-up call in the morning at both lodges with a soft voice from the room steward announcing his presence with a pot of hot Kenyan coffee to  our return to our tent every night to find the hot water bottle in our bed was heavenly.    For us, the one of the most memorable parts of the trip was the kindness shown to us by the staff of both lodges.  At Mara, our hosts, who primarily worked with the Children's Adventure Club, were wonderful ambassadors.  They always had time for a laugh and giggle or conversations about life in Kenya in days past and today.   We booked this trip a bit blindly, but were guided perfectly.  Thank you Zicasso and to our travel company.
