Travel Review: Family Vacation in Italy, Venice, Murano, Florence, Uffizi, Chianti, Rome, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Positano,...

We traveled to Venice, Florence and Rome May 4-15 with two 13 year olds and friends from Houston. We had just a few days in each city and the tours the travel company arranged made the most of our time and offered us a variety of experiences. Our favorite guides were Aniko in Florence, for a private tour of The Accademia and Uffizi, and Francesca in Rome, Ancient Rome and the Vatican. Both really involved the kids so they learned a lot while having fun. The cooking class in Florence was a blast and the day in Chianti was fabulous too. There was a little mix up on our day trip to Pompeii. We ended up not climbing Vesuvius (kids' choice) but going to the Amalfi Coast, it was beautiful (but winding roads made our niece a bit car sick), and then to Pompeii.
