Travel Review: Father-Son Vacation in Egypt, Aswan, Cairo, Luxor, Edfu, Abydos, Karnak, Valleys of the Kings & Queens, Pyramids

Lifetime Experience!

I travelled  with my father for his 80th birthday between January 6th and 16th, 2018 to Egypt.   He always wanted to see the Pyramids. 

Although my father is fit for his age, I was worried about dragging him through a strenuous sightseeing itinerary with a large tour group. 

For safety reasons and to avoid many unforeseen stressors ,traveling with a  tour company, such as this one is essential to have a pleasant trip in Egypt.    The visa /customs process and pick up at the airport was handled by our travel agency, and this alone is worth the hire.  

I chose this company because they offered  private tours, with flexible itineraries.  Our group was  just my father,  the driver, tour guide and myself.   This way, we were able  to see many sights at a leisurely pace, but within a 10 day itinerary : Great Pyramids, Saqqara,  Abydos, Edfu, Philae, Abu Simbel, Karnak, Luxor, Valleys of the Kings and Queens, Hatschepsut, and many other temples along the way (I forget some of their names).  A big benefit of such a small group is that we usually were the only visitors at various ancient sites.  This was possible, because our arrival time differed from the big tour buses and cruise ships. 

Both our tour guides were pleasant,  knowledgeable, and provided just the right amount of  Egyptology for insight and context, without boring you with unnecessary trivia or  endless presentations.  They were  both excellent.  Also the drivers drove safely, and ensured comfortable travel. 

 If traveling to Aswan, I highly recommend staying at the hotel we stayed at.  It is one of the finest hotels that I ever had the good fortune to stay in!   The setting, views, and accommodations, are stunning!!  The hotel In Luxor is also a marvel.   Do  not forgo choosing these hotels.  They became part of the all around unforgettable experience.   The hotels are an option for  the different packages that this company offers.
