Travel Review: Luxury Egypt & Jordan Vacation, Luxor, Wadi Rum, The Valley of the Kings, Pyramids, Hot Air Balloon, Nile Cruise

I would not do much different based on the way we like to travel. We decided to take the luxury tour and did not regret it. We had excellent accommodations and the pacing was good for us. We arranged to start our tours early and were the only ones on the sites in many cases, while later in the day they became very crowded. We also chose to fly between destinations which was very convenient. We met people on the cruise ship that took the train and drove to save money. They were complaining about trying to sleep on the noisy and crowed train and driving 4 hrs each way to see Abu Simbel. It may have cost more money, but the 45 min flight was well worth it to us. The only things I would change is limiting the camel rides to one. We rode the camel to view the pyramids at sunset which was memorable, but a challenge for us in our 70's with arthritis in the hips. We were scheduled to take another, but decided once was enough. I also requested no stops at tourist shops that give you a demonstration and then try to sell you something. Somehow, we still managed to have several and we just are not into buying souvenirs. A suggestion I would make to the tour company to make the trip more enjoyable and less stressful would be charge us ahead for the minor tips and have the guide handle it. Sometimes we were tipping 6 to 10 people per day for airport guide, airport driver, boat driver, carriage driver, camel person, tour driver, porter, guide, etc. I was never sure how much I should be tipping and never had the right amount of small bills when the ATM only gives you large ones. Giving your main guide a tip at the end of the trip is fine because you have a personal relationship with him.
