Travel Review: Luxury Family Trip to Germany and the Netherlands, Amsterdam, Berlin, Rothenburg, Munich, Rhine River Cruise

We really enjoyed our stay in Rothenburg and how it encapsulated in a magical way what life was like in medieval Germany.  As well, a cruise along the Rhine River juxtaposed with an overnight stay in a castle in Oberwesel, really gave us a good feel for the "old" and historic.  Day tours of and overnight stays in Munich and Berlin highlighted their importance in Germany's Nazi and cold war past but also how they are some of the driving force behind a modern Germany.   Time at the Porsche museum, BMW world, and Zeiss headquarters provided a feel for how German science and engineering are carrying Germany into the future.  Time in the Netherlands was not laid out just as an afterthought to our larger German portion our vacation.  Our travel representative and his company were able to give an "immersion" into Dutch life of the past and present, combining day tours, museums and walking tours of Amsterdam, the Hague, and Delft, but also exposure to the Dutch countryside with a fabulous family biking tour to Edam and Volendam.
