Just wanted to comment on my recent trip to Bhutan.

I arranged my trip thru this travel agency and their representative and must say he made it a very easy and enjoyable experience. Since I traveled by myself I was free to make my own itinerary. With the help and excellent advice from my representative I was able to customize my trip to my liking.

Once in Bhutan I was met by my guide and driver. I could not have ask for better service from both. My guide was very knowledgeable about just about everything and accommodating to changes that I wanted in the daily schedule and my driver was an excellent driver and despite the challenging road conditions I never felt unsafe.

My advice to others panning on a trip to Bhutan would be to pick just a few destinations and spend time there, getting to know the people and their culture. Because of road conditions and construction, travel between major cities takes a long time and while the scenery is beautiful you time is better spent with the people.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Since my trip was "focused" on photography the best part was photographing the interior of the Dzongs. There are so many colors and angles that you can stand in one spot and get a dozen different scenes.

People, everyone is friendly and I never had anyone refuse my request for a photo (ask first). This included people in the major cities who see tourist all the time to a rice farmer in a remote field who I could only communicate through hand gestures. Children are always ready to be photographed and they all want to practice their English width you. Be sure to show them their photo if you can, it always brings a smile to their face.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I think no matter where you go if you return you always have a little different perspective and you don't want to do "more of the same" of everything. I would go farther east to some of the small villages that are more remote and see fewer tourist to gain more in site to what Bhutan was like before they decided to step into the 21st century.
