Travel Review: Luxury Spain Tour, Toledo, Barcelona, Madrid, Costa Brava, L'Emporda

The food, the lodgings and the sights were memorable every day. But this travel company arranged some special highlights. Our agent, Esther, connected us with Rocio, a tour guide in Toledo who made the ancient capital of Spain come alive for us. She also booked us at the most beautiful hotel setting we have ever been to, the Castell D’Emporda. A fully restored 17th century castle, the experience is bucolic and completely restful. The rooms are modern and beautiful, overlooking gardens in bloom and farmland. The Castell’s restaurant beautifully reflects the fresh fish, meats and produce of the local area, and is a tribute to the modern Spanish influences of the groundbreaking restaurants of Catalan cuisine. And our last stop, in Barcelona, provided an engaging boutique hotel, and fabulous restaurants that Esther went above and beyond to arrange for us, including Alkimia.
