Travel Review: Luxury Tour of Peru, Cusco, Colca Canyon, Sacred Valley, Ballestas Island, Machu Picchu

I would not go to Paracas -too much time traveling to and from Lima. Flying over the Nazca Lines was disappointing - hard to see with little time spent over the lines. The Ballestas Islands were OK - a boat ride out and back but not equivalent to going to the Galapagos. However, as part of our Paracas stay, we rode in a dune buggy on the Sand Dunes, sledding down the dunes - a real thrill, making you feel like a kid.

The hotel properties in Peru are outstanding. Staying at the Sanctuary adjacent to the gate at Machu Picchu was great -allowing in and out access to Machu Picchu. However, The trains are very pricey with a very slow pace. I have decided that we are not luxury train fans - too much to see with limited time. The trains are for those who love to eat, love service, and have unlimited time.

i am sorry that we did not make it to the Amazon - it will have to be another trip.

Please note - our itinerary was based on our requests of 2 night stays, Nazca lines, Ballestas Islands and the train.
