Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

The travel company did an amazing job organizing this trip. We had several location changes within our 12 days in country and they were perfect, no issues at all. Our travel specialist was our adviser and did a great job making sure he offered a trip within our budget, and his communication was always excellent.
I would book another trip with this travel company in a heartbeat.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

We stayed in the Amazon for 3 days/2 nights, added the lodge in the Sacred Valley for 1 night, hiked to Machu Picchu with an overnight in Aguas Caliente, then ended the trip with some time in Cusco and Lima. We had such an amazing time, it would be hard to put a finger on the best part, but if I had to, I'd say the hike to MP with our guide. The hike is 11km and the first 3.5 miles were straight up. When we reached the sun gate and gazed upon the Incan citadel, we felt like we earned it. I know there are other options of mulitiday hiking, but that's just not for us. The 104km hike was perfect for us because it was still a bit of a challenge, but we didn't have to camp. Also, I can't say enough good things about our guide. He was amazing. Really brought the tour to life with the stories and his English is fantastic. He's been a guide for over 20 years and it seemed like he knew everybody in the country.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

We probably would not do the lodge again. HOWEVER, let me make this clear, it was an amazing adventure and was professionally ran. It took us about 2 hours to climb the rock face to get to the cooking pod for supper. They said the climb can take anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3+ hours. Because of the amount of time it takes to get to the pods, and there is no way to change your mind once you start, I would say is above the "moderate" tourist level of activity. I think if you are in ok shape, and are not afraid of heights, you would be OK, but it was very mental for my wife and me. We are very glad we did it, and would highly recommend it to the right friends, we just don't think we would do it again.
