Travel Review: Tour of Southern France, Bordeaux, Nice, Caves of Lascaux, Pont du Gard, Carcassone Castle

My wife knew about the caves of Lascaux since middle school and since Lascaux 4 just opened in Dec 16, our timing was perfect.  We had a wonderful 9 hour tour of 3 different places including Lascaux.  We did 4 city/village tours with guides.  They were outstanding and we learned a lot. That's our goal in travelling; learning about the area we're in and these guides were great.  All of our other guides were mostly exceptional as well.  It would not have been as memorable if we would not have invested in tours.  We knew nothing about Bordeaux the city, and we really liked it; a mini Paris.  Other highlights included the Pont du Gard, the castle at Carcassone, the Luberon hill towns, the calanques at Bandol, and St Paul de Vence.  Plus just driving through the countryside on small roads was a pleasure.  We ended up following the route of the Tour de France which provided interesting decorated bikes in all the little towns.
