Travel Review: Zambia and Botswana Safari Review

Kathy of this Botswana safari tour operator was attentive and concerned that we have the best experience at our price level. She, did a wonderful job helping us plan this Safari and found a company that met our needs. We did have a hiccup on our trip, but the owner of the local tour operator listened to our complaints and proceeded to afford us a very satisfying and adventurous experience. Once in Botswana, our original itinerary was completely altered on the first 1/3 of our Safari and we were not notified until we stepped off the plane in Maun to start our journey. A representative of the company told us in a very swift manner, that changes in the original itinerary were made and we were upgraded in accommodations. Our revised locations would have caused hours of unnecessary driving every day for 4 days to get to the game we had come to see. This was not driving on a track at slow speed in a game reserve but 90-95 km per hour on a tar road in an open game viewing vehicle. Our original and final game vehicle had to be adapted with a wind screen for our protection. There was no protection from the driving wind and sand for the first 3 days of tar road driving and game viewing. Our complaints about the discomfort was on a Friday and this installation could not be performed until the following Monday. In retrospect, our driver from Maun was better at driving than game viewing or tracking. After experiencing 8 straight hours of this type of transportation in the outset, a remedy had to occur. An urgent call on a borrowed cell phone from Botswana to Port Elizabeth, SA, to the owner, accomplished a much better result. Our itinerary was cooperatively revised and more than met our expectations. The owner of the local tour operator listened to our complaints and proceeded to afford us a very satisfying and adventurous experience.
