Argentina, Chile Vacation Review: Two-Week Trip

I would study my Spanish more to be able to communicate better, even though everyone spoke some English. It was fun trying to use my limited Spanish, which I think people appreciated.

The accommodation in El Chalten was great (and the staff was wonderful), but make certain you know taxi rides are required to get to any trailheads. That was mentioned, but it was just hard to understand this when planning from a few thousand miles away. I'm still glad we stayed there instead of in town. One could do a combination if you had time.

Also, the hotel in Chilean Patagonia was in a very good location inside the park. It had excellent guides and was helpful in planning day trips. It also had a beautiful view, but if one wants a view of the entire range at sunrise and sunset, maybe consider being outside the park. This would require a longer ride to the trailhead if you were planning on hiking to Las Torres.
