If I could take the trip again, I would try to schedule an earlier incoming flight so we could have that day to start activities in Costa Rica. Also if arrivals are late it would be very beneficial for the travel agent to give the travelers a heads up to pack more snacks, etc. After we arrived at the hotel around 10 pm, we found out that the hotel restaurant had already closed so we had to skip dinner. The hotel staff tried to help us out by suggesting Uber Eats, but most restaurants had already closed because it was Sunday. We did pass some American chains like KFC on the way to the hotel, so we wished we had stopped to grab a quick bite. Other than this hiccup, the rest of the trip went smoothly!
Also, I share this point as a general suggestion. I would try and adjust arrival/departure airports based on the suggested itinerary from the travel agent. We booked the cheapest flight option, which meant we had to arrive and depart from San Jose Airport. Transfer between locations did take time which could have been used for more activities. This was not a concern for my family as we felt we got to enjoy a great variety of activities within our one-week-long trip.
