Check out times of operations of the museums we wished to visit. While in Athens, my husband was particularly interested in seeing the Numismatic Museum. When we arrived for our visit on a Tuesday, despite their website saying they were open, we were disappointed to find it closed on Tuesdays. Fortunately, our fantastic driver in Rhodes, was able to arrange a driver in Athens where we had ~ a 5 hour layover at the airport before flying home. It dramatically reduced the anxiety about taxiing back into Athens with our luggage and getting back to the airport in time for our flight home. So, we recommend checking hours of operations, despite what the website says . It's Greece, not the US, and things work somewhat differently. But, that's part of the charm of being there!
