Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Iceland is a magical place! We had a fabulous time exploring different parts of the island, and had a well-curated list of attractions and experiences. Our travel agent put together an excellent itinerary for our very active family, with lots of varied options to choose from. He also made himself readily available for questions, and handled a near-crisis beautifully when our upcoming accommodation had a plumbing problem - he re-booked us at a fantastic hotel before we even knew there was an issue. I would have liked a trip summary page simply with location names, drive times, recommended visit timing, and map links (note that these items were included in the longer, detailed itinerary). However, as we discovered, Iceland is very easy to navigate. Our accommodations were excellent, and restaurant recommendations were spot-on.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

All of our experiences were fantastic, however, the glaciers were out of this world. The shades of blue are indescribable. We did a 3 hour glacier "hike", and then a 1 hour kayak in a glacier lagoon, floating around icebergs. We couldn't get enough of those two adventures! We also really enjoyed a day with our travel agent and his 3 young boys exploring the Valley of Thor. Everything we did was fun - there wasn't anything we did not enjoy.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

If you have seen whales before, I would skip that adventure. The boat ride was really fun (even at 6 celcius!), and we had a great time getting geared up in the giant waterproof suits, but we didn't see any whales (we did see a lot of adorable puffin and some porpoise). (Please note - evidently they see whales almost every day - we just got unlucky). I probably would have ridden Icelandic horses, or taken that day to explore Reykjavik. I also think that the Blue Lagoon is overrated. While I'm glad we did it, I will skip it next time. I was expecting a more relaxing spa experience. There are probably some other geothermal experiences that are less like a trip to crowded Disneyland.
