Iceland Review: Horseback Riding, Hot Springs, Zodiac Glacier Lagoon Ride, History, Local Culture, 10-Night Trip

Two things.  First, it rained much of the day on 6 of the 9 days.  Mid September might be a rainier time than summer, it certainly was this year.  With 20 to 30 MPH winds, weather in the 40s, and rain it was cold.  We were expecting it and prepared but it certainly took some of the joy out of it. Might put up with the crowds and pay more and go in summer?
  Second, we are pretty active people.  Previously we have done a lot of National Geographic trips, and VBT biking trips and this trip was a fair amount of driving to cover the ring in essentially 8 days. I might have skipped a few waterfalls and seen a little less of the country and spent more time hiking, riding, seeing different valleys closer, etc to cut on the travel time. It would not have been too pleasant with all the rain though. :( This was our planning, not the operator so it does not reflect poorly on them and others might not have minded the time in the car. 
  We liked all our hotels, restaurants, everything was very nice, modern.  I would recommend this trip to many travelers but it would not be my first choice if you are just starting to travel (due to the weather. )
