Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Our agent at this Italy travel company was very helpful at every step. She put together a wonderful itinerary for us that was very balanced. We stayed in Rome, Sorrento, Florence, and Orvieto. We had private guided tours in Rome, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and Florence, and group tours to Siena/San Giamagnano/Pisa and Capri. Everything was planned out perfectly. We were extremely happy with every accommodation. We did use the trains, and drivers met us at each destination so we did not need to worry about cabs. For the most part, we were able to avoid large groups. This was a wonderful way to see Italy.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

We loved spending a whole day touring the Amalfi Coast. We also enjoyed spending one whole day in Orvieto. It is a very interesting city, and did allow some time for shopping. The tour guides that we had were excellent. Our family also enjoyed the private mozzarella and pizza making demonstration and the private vineyard tour. But best of all were the wonderful restaurants that our agent recommended at each destination. The food was fantastic. At my request, she made reservations for us at each destination, and every one was perfect. We were treated so well, and got a wonderful taste of the wine and cuisines in each locale.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

We would skip the large group tours to Capri and San Giamagnano/Pisa. Those were too touristy. I would recommend spending a little extra to do a private tour to Siena or some other less crowded locations instead. I did add on one extra day in Rome at the end of our trip. Our agent did set up a second private tour of "Unexplored Destinations" in Rome. We saw the Basilica of San Clemente." That is a fascinating site, close to the Colisseum but off the beaten path. It is a 900 year old church on top of a 1500 year old church on top of a 2000 year old Roman temple and city. Fascinating.
