Luxury Italy Family Vacation Review: Rome, Florence, Positano, Siena, Tuscany, Milan, Verona, Bologna, Naples, Capri, Amalfi Coast

We would not do tour that was booked for us at a pecorino cheese farm in Tuscany. We felt duped and taken advantage of because we paid 150 Euros (at an exchange rate of $1.38 per Euro) for four people. (We were traveling with two in-laws.)  Our agent told us of  the cost ahead of time but we did not receive anything near what was called a "full tasting experience." What the four of us actually received was six small pieces of cheese each, one shared basket of bread, one shared bottle of wine and one shared persimmon.  By contrast, in restaurants throughout the rest of our trip we had excellent, filling multi-course meals with better wine at a combined cost to the four of us of 130-140 Euros. 

The agent had not booked transportation for us on the last legs of our trip from Naples port to Capri and from Capri to Positano. Because of choppy seas we had to wait in the ferry port for seven hours to get a boat to Capri. Once on Capri we learned we could not travel from Capri to Positano as suggested by the agent because in November boats no longer go from Capri to Positano. So we needed to take a boat to Sorrento and get land transportation to Positano. Our hotel called a company in Sorrento and we were told it would cost 400 Euros for a car and driver for the 1/2 hour drive from Sorrento to Positano. This seemed outrageous so we contacted our agent by e-mail and she quickly got us the required transportation for not 400 Euros but only 80 Euros. Job well done -- and very quickly!
