Our agent at the Zicasso tour company was wonderful. She listened carefully to the things we do and don't value in a vacation and really put together a great itinerary. All of the drivers she booked were friendly and on time. We always knew that things would go smoothly with everything she arranged.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

She booked us for an overnight on Kapiti Island and it far exceeded expectations. Run by a Māori family, they offered wonderfully cooked meals and comfortable tent cabins. The guides were all excellent and a special treat was a dark, silent, late-night hike to spot the kiwi, which we did! We loved the lakeside town of Taupō and were so glad she recommended an extra night there. The bird/hiking guide was excellent and it was a memorable walk through the rainforest!

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

Only one hotel disappointed ... the lodge in Tongariro National Park. The area, however, is very special and the hike was beautiful.
