My fiance and I wanted a high quality, bucket list vacation experience in Peru at a reasonable cost, and that's EXACTLY what this travel team provided! Our excursions were perfectly sequenced with all of our hotel needs and in-country transportation taken care of. Our rides were exactly where they needed to be when we needed them. The Sales and Marketing Manager for this travel team, took care of everything except our international flights (which is completely understandable), and made our vacation one for the memory books! We were able to meet him in Lima, Peru during our final weekend, and it was like seeing an old friend for the first time. Our tour and trek guide in Cusco and the Sacred Valley, stayed with us for 2/3 of our trip. He was professional, funny, patient, kind, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable! Our vacation culminated with a gastronomic tour of Lima, which was expertly orchestrated and executed by our guide!

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

The vacation was packed full of memorable experiences. Perhaps the one that will stick out the most in my mind is when we got to the end of the 14 km hike along the Inca Trail and entered the Sun Temple where our first image of Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains was revealed. That was an unbelievable experience!

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

Unfortunately, I caught a stomach bug during the middle of the trip, which caused me to cancel the whitewater rafting experience. I don't know if this was due to exposure to the local tap water, which I tried very hard to avoid. The 4.5 hour hike up and down Machu Picchu Mountain left us utterly drained, and required a day and a half to recuperate. It was during this time that I experienced the stomach bug. If I could do anything different, it would have been to try harder to avoid the local water, which can be very difficult as I watched a bar tender rinse the my glass in the tap water before pouring my drink. I would also not have pushed myself so hard on the mountain hike, thus leaving more energy for the whitewater rafting tour.

I am sorry to hear that you got a stomach bug whilst here in Peru. It is important to be extra careful whilst travelling in Peru and take care of what you consume. We issue a comprehensive travel document on staying healthy in Peru. I have just checked through the hotels that were used in your trip, and I am fairly sure that all of them run water filtration systems, meaning that the water that arrives in your room is safe to use. I imagine your tiredness on the trek was the early stages of your stomach bug. As most of our clients are in Peru for a short period of time, we would always recommend brushing your teeth with bottle water.
The first view of Machu Picchu on arrival at the Sun Gate (Intipunku) us simply stunning, I am glad you got to enjoy it. I hope that overall your trip was a success and that the stomach bug didn't affect your enjoyment too much.
