Portugal Luxury Vacation Review: Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Algarve, Evora, Faro, Douro River Valley, Wine Tours

On our first morning in Lisbon, our tour guide took us to an out-of-the-way confeitaria for the best pastel de nata. This was the start of a delightful three days in Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, and Evora.

The Timeout Market was wonderful … so many choices of meals from some of Lisbon's best restaurants, conversations with people from all over the world, and more pastel.

In addition to the Alentejo wine tour, where we purchased four bottles of the local wine, we were taken to a cork factory, where we purchased a number of high-quality cork products, including a beautiful handbag and placemats.

Seeing the westernmost point of Europe on our tour of the Algarve was a unique experience, as was visiting Tavira, Olhao, and Faro.

Porto was our favorite destination. We especially enjoyed the cruise on the Douro River and the traditional lunch and wine tasting at a farm. This was a major highlight of our trip.
