Portugal, Spain Travel Review: Porto, Sintra, Douro Valley, 20-Day Trip

Through Zicasso, we were connected with our travel agent to design and book our trip to Spain and Portugal. It was our first time using Zicasso and we found the overall experience very worthwhile since we had no idea how to begin planning this trip.

Zicasso put us in touch with three travel specialists to discuss itineraries and we immediately felt very comfortable with our travel agency. Our travel agent started the process by listening to our goals, noting the cities and sights we wished to visit, the types of accommodations we prefer, our physicality, and intercity transportation preferences, etc.

Via conference calls, he suggested several destinations that aligned with our tastes/interests and described each location and its attractions in detail. With his expert knowledge, the itinerary was defined, with a logical sequence of travel. He proposed safe and strategically located hotels, helped us pick the best tours and day trips, and recommended the best/easiest modes of travel between cities, including flights, trains, and rental cars which were all flawlessly arranged. Our agent and his team were very professional, knowledgeable, organized, and had excellent communication skills.

The agency used a fantastic app that contained our itinerary; the hotels; a daily description and schedule; all electronic tickets; links to all the tourist attractions, including their locations and how to best get there; and restaurant recommendations with a short description of cuisine, etc. We referred to it constantly and it was extremely easy to use.

We were prepped before leaving by our travel agent and with the app, felt well prepared for the trip, which went very smoothly. For instance, it was pouring with rain in Porto and with a single phone call to our travel team, our four-hour walking tour became an indoor Port wine-tasting and museum tour, saving our day. Lastly, and most importantly, our travel team was available for questions or with help throughout our trip in the event of any change in circumstances, which was very reassuring. Fe!
