Portugal Vacation Review: Sao Miguel Island, Lisbon, Activities & Tours

the one thing we would have done is fly directly home from San Miguel island back to the US ...versus flying back to Lisbon and then flying home the following night. Based on the itinerary provided we just didn't realize the airport on the island was large enough for direct flights back to the states so we didn't look into that option (my fault as well).  However it would have been much easier to just fly home from the island versus adding in an extra day and an extra flight back to the mainland and then back to the US.  I also won't have rented the a car for the full time on the island.....we probably only needed it two days.  Both to these added unnecessary expenses......and the flight back to Lisbon added unnecessary time as we were tired by then and that extra travel wasn't needed.
