We would have skipped the animal rescue center in Arenal. It was painful to see cougars pacing in the small space that they had.  They clearly should be in the wild.   And we would have had a better guide or at least have our registered and experienced guide accompany us on the river tour.  The woman who guided us clearly did not have the expertise, education or experience of the main guide who accompanied us as both guide and driver.  He was fabulous and came with us on a hike he led but also on the morning hike into the preserve.  He was denied permission to accompany us on the river and that was a bit of a loss.
