Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Our two-week Italy trip was a dream trip! It included everything my husband and I wanted to do, and allowed us some free time to explore on our own. We could relax and not worry every time we needed to go to or from the airport, or from one city to another, because we had a driver meeting us who was prompt and knew the way. Our private and small group tours were with English speaking guides, and they were extremely knowledgeable. We liked having the earbuds on the small group tours so that we could hear them speaking at all times.

Our travel planner at this trip company was a pleasure to work with. She was always available, and communication with her was easy. She always understood my requests, accommodated them, and she went out of her way to make sure I had an answer to my questions (for example, checking with the opera house to make sure our seats had the view of the subtitle screen when we were not sure).

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

There really were too many to count, but we loved Venice: the water views, St. Mark's Square, the private guided wine and small bites tour, the gondola ride, walking around and finding a new excellent restaurant. We saw a couple get engaged in Venice! The duomo in Milan was unparalleled. What a striking church! Florence was our second favorite city. . .very similar in some ways to Venice: the buildings, the sculptures. We enjoyed the food, the market (where you can deal with the sellers), and of course Tuscany. That was a very nice small group wine tour. The sunset view from the top of our hotel in Florence was amazing! In Rome, we were awestruck by the Colosseum. Going inside it, as well as walking through the ruins nearby, were both our favorite parts of that tour...really a must for anyone going to Rome.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I wouldn't do much differently. We had five days in Venice, two days in Milan, four days in Florence, and three days in Rome. That number in each city worked well for us. However, we did go on two wine tours to Tuscany that went to the same winery. One was a small group winery tour and one was a Tuscan dinner tour on a separate day. Although we liked the winery, we had no idea that the two tours would go to the same place. With thousands of wineries in Tuscany, we didn't even think to ask about which ones were in each tour. I suppose that is something a travel agent should be aware might happen, and look into beforehand. Also, our "small group" tour in Rome was about 40 people at first when going to Vatican City, then 25 to 30 going to the Colosseum. To me, that seems like a large group.
