Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

Our India travel agency provided excellent service, from the first contact with our agent, to the trip itself. The advice we were given by the agency was helpful in planning the trip and selecting our hotels, and the in-country agents, guides, and drivers at each place we visited were on time, knowledgeable, and flexible to meet our needs. The service was personalized even to the point of meeting with our agent twice during our stay, and having special dinners set up for us. Their knowledge of the cities we visited allowed us to have experiences outside of the ordinary.

Your overall comments on Zicasso

This was my 4th trip booked with Zicasso. I found them on the internet looking for personalized travel. I've been very happy with the agencies they have recommended, and find that they give personalized care to their clients.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Our visit to Varanasi was very special. To experience India's holiest city during all times of the day allowed us to see the rituals that are built into the Hindu culture of the country. It gave a broad view of the people, and the centuries old streets and temples of the city. In contrast to the electric atmosphere in Varanasi, our dinner at a private farm outside of Jaipur placed us in the countryside where a less chaotic view of the farm life could be seen. We had a delicious private dinner prepared and served to us by lamplight. Viewing the temples, tombs, and palaces almost where ever we traveled was a special part of the trip. Fortresses up to 1000 years old were exciting to see, as was the Taj Mahal.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I would eliminate taking the train, and plan connections by air whenever possible. Our train experience was harrowing, as it was difficult getting ourselves and the luggage on the train with so many people going on and off, even with our agent and porters helping us. I might also have liked to see the "modern" side of India as one of our excursions. We never really got to see the neighborhoods of the newly growing middle class, though we passed modern shopping centers that let us see that it must surely be a part of India's society.
