Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

My wife and I signed on with our travel company for a 17-day trip through Portugal and Spain. Our primary agent orchestrated our itinerary, provided additional on-site information, and was our contact throughout the trip and afterward. The rest of the Zicasso travel team provided essential help during the first couple of days of our trip and came through with a timely travel change. Our trip came off beautifully.

We had a fairly dynamic schedule that included travel and guided tours every day, and all of the arrangements provided by our travel agent, from the hotels, the timing and convenience of the travel connections, and the city guides and drivers, were excellent. I can't say enough good things about how well everything worked out and the ease of communication with our travel team throughout.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Wow. It’s hard to say without inadvertently denigrating other aspects of our travels. We stayed in seven cities and visited several others on day trips. Every place was unique and memorable.

Here are a couple of special attributes:

We did not rent a car, so arranged to stay close to city centers where we could (generally) walk to restaurants and local sites. The hotels were very nice – some modern, some very old – but with modernized features, and some boutique-ish. We really enjoyed the mix and convenience of the locations.

Also memorable were the city guides and drivers, all of whom were very professional, personable, and talented.

I would also say a great and reassuring aspect of our trip – not necessarily enjoyable or memorable – was knowing our travel agent was in our corner.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

I wouldn't change anything. We had some issues with a few of the small group tours we arranged outside of the travel agency’s itinerary. The times or meeting locations of three of our six day trips were changed the day before. That was our only aggravation and entirely outside of the travel company's jurisdiction. Everything our travel agent set up came off flawlessly.
