Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

The travel planner was attentive and helpful. Most everything went as planned. An unexpected snag with a train schedule was bothersome, but we worked through it.
We were, however, disappointed with the lodging. We were told that the hotels accommodations would be 4-star quality. There must be a different definition in Spain as the hotels generally were not close to what we expected. I think this is a case of over-promising and under-delivering.
On the plus side, it appears that one of the tours we had to cancel was refunded. We are still waiting for the other refund to hit our account.
The travel planner was attentive, and communicated well.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

The tour guide in Madrid was very good. The overall experience of seeing Spain was enjoyable and informative.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

There needs to be a clear understanding of the level of hotel accommodations. The hotels were well below what was represented in our planning and what we paid for.
Travel Company Comments
This client unfortunately had an illness for one person in their group which put a damper on everything else. Many services had to be cancelled last minute as we approached the date and realized that this person would not be able to participate. Through our longstanding relationships with the drivers and guides who received the less than 24-hour notice of cancellation, we were able to refund a full day and a half.

In addition to cancelling services, we provided additional assistance at the airport and adapted tours so that this person would not have to walk.

In response to the comments about lodging. This traveler was first offered our standard, boutique, 4-star hotels. However, he wanted to stick to a very specific budget. We offered a different selection of hotels which were lower priced, and as he was told, not the same standard. He agreed and we booked.
