Tanzania, Kenya Luxury Vacation Review: Mugumu, Nairobi, Stone Town, Safari Tour

Highlights included immersion into the wildlife and appreciation for the lives of the animals, and excellent guides who taught us about the animals and Africa. Each safari was full of surprises in terms of the wildlife and their activities.

Also memorable were up-close views of topi giving birth; lions mating; leopards crossing right in front of us; watching a lioness hunt unsuccessfully for a topi, then digging vigorously for warthogs (we appreciated her persistence); and seeing herds and herds of zebras, wildebeests, elephants, and giraffes.

We really liked all the safari accommodations. One of the lodges was exceptionally well run, attentive, responsive, and extremely careful in keeping us safe from the wildlife.

Walking through Mugumu market with our guide, who paved the way for us to meet market people up close and appreciate life in the town, was another highlight.

An impromptu walking tour with the son of the owners of the magnificent hotel in Nairobi; seeing and visiting Maasai, Hadzabe, and Datoga tribes; and visiting Karen Blixen House to appreciate her story and history were also memorable.
