Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

As with anything new, especially with planning a big trip to China, this travel agency met and exceeded our expectations. Our travel agent did an excellent job of with the minutia of our travels. Our tour guides, our lodging details, food, the activities and the interconnecting transportation were well planned and executed. She even accommodated another traveler, with a different flight time , and provided shuttle service for them without an additional cost. Also the price was very reasonable- unsure if it was because it was off-season and/or if the tour group does a good job negotiating prices with their vendors.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

1. There was a change in the Great Wall location and it was changed to Gubeikou. The suggestion was great because there were very few people, the views were great ( having perfectly clear blue skies didn't hurt) and we actually had good exercise from the hike. The visit to the Forbidden City was great.

2. Lunch in Beijing where we had the Beijing Roasted Duck meal- the spicy shrimp was the best!

3. The bullet train rides

4. Shanghai- the Bund district and the meal with dumplings ( tour guide brought us there) and the Shanghai museum

5. Zhangjiajie- the Bailong Elevator, all the hiking we did in the park and of course all the views.

6. Longsheng- the Dragon Backbone Rice Terraces and the meal we had there.

7. Yangshuo- loved the biking through the karst hills, rice fields and small villages. The small boutique hotel we stayed in was out of this world. So beautiful and relaxing. We loved taking the Chinese cooking class too.

8. Hong Kong- Victoria Peak at night and the meal we had there.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

1. We would have gone to somewhere different to have lunch then the Tea House in Tongli Water Town- the food was horrible- shrimp was old, meat was tough and vegetables were over-cooked.

2. We would have ordered a Chinese meal on the Li River Cruise- the western meal comprised of a tasteless sandwich, pringles, and twinkiies.

3. Stayed one less night in Guillin (we stayed 4 nights in that area) We would have skipped the Reed Flute Cave (too commercialized) and the Elephant Trunk Hill and stayed an extra night in Hong Kong.

4. We would have not asked our tour guides to take us to jade, silk and tea stores- The prices are way over-priced and after the third store we believe our tour guides make a commission off of our purchases. As an example- after we asked if this certain kind of tea was available at the airport we were told no- we purchased the tea for $45 and when we arrived at the airport the same container of tea was available for $11.
