Travel Review: Highlights of Italy Vacation, Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, Venice, Murano, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Praiano

Alexandra organized our trip to Italy and it was wonderful. She listened to our preferences carefully and suggested hotels, guides, and attractions accordingly. We visited Rome, Sorrento, and Venice. Our trip was relatively high-end (4/5 star hotels, private guides, personal driver), and we had looked into other luxury travel outfits with very similar customized hotel/guide itineraries. Their quoted price was 50% or more above Alexandra’s, and we weren’t sure initially that this Italy tour operator would meet our expectations given the reasonableness of their quote. Our hopes were pleasantly confirmed. Transportation and transfers went smoothly, and the guides and drivers were always present at the right place and time. The one occasion there was a slight glitch (a late boat taxi in Venice), Alexandra was immediately available and she sorted it out quickly with the dispatcher. It was comforting to know our logistics had been carefully and reliably planned, and that Alexandra was always ready to jump in if something went awry. We had guides in Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, and Venice. All were very good, and three were exceptional. Our driver in Sorrento, Guy, consistently went out of his way to be helpful. His restaurant suggestions led to our best meals in Sorrento, including local flavor that we might have missed otherwise. We’ve found that guides make an enormous difference in the experience. We were very pleased with Alexandra’s selections. Alexandra also helped arrange a surprise birthday dinner at Mirabelle in Rome, which was wonderfully romantic with a spectacular view of the city. She even generously and thoughtfully arranged to have a bottle of champagne delivered with a nice note, which arrived shortly after we were seated at our table. This type of attention to detail and extra effort was typical of everything she planned. Overall, the vacation was very well executed, and we would highly recommend Alexandra for anyone considering a trip to Italy. Glenn and Lisa
