Our travel agent really stepped up when Delta cancelled our flight and caused us to start our trip a day late. She cancelled and rebooked us at hotels and excursions so that when we arrived in Dublin we were all set to begin our adventures. And it was truly a week of adventure. From Dublin to Westport to Galway and back to Dublin with stops in Newgrange, Downpatrick Head, Ceide Fields, Kylemore Abbey, Inis Mor and Cliffs of Mohr with a driver we were able to explore on our own timetable and avoid the large groups. With great suggestions for dinner and music we were able to eat "local" as well as visit the "must sees" as Matt Malloy's in Westport (still the best built Guiness I've had).

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

In Dublin the Jameson's Makers Tour Blending Class is a not to be missed. If you don't like whiskey when you walk in the door by the time you blend your own at the end of the class you will be a convert. Galway is very walkable and has great food and bars. In Westport, we stayed at a gem of a small hotel with a great full Irish breakfast. But by far the natural beauty of Ireland was the highlight of our trip. From the awe inspiring cliffs facing the Atlantic ocean to the centuries old bogs to Croagh Patrick to the heartbreaking Doolough Valley to biking around remote Inis Mor (on a bleak day when only one ferry has landed), each day was filled with new discoveries, just what we wanted for our vacation

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

If we had a "do over" for the trip, we would likely add a day in Westport, a day in Galway, and a day in Dublin. Six days was just too short for the itinerary we chose. However, the calendar was dictated by work commitments. We would not take a stop off - or delete an excursion.
