Travel Review: Luxury Australia Vacation, Mossman Gorge, Great Barrier Reef, Spearfishing, Scuba Diving, Hiking, Wildlife

My favorite parts of the trip were the stay at Silky Oaks Lodge accompanied by spear fishing with the local aboriginal tribesman and our time on the reef scuba diving. 

Silky Oaks is an amazing place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone traveling thru the area. I can only describe the place as magical. And the food is amazing. I've never had anything better and that holds true for every meal we had at Silky Oaks. While staying at Silky Oaks, our travel company was able to plan a spear fishing trip for us. It turned out that it was just me, my husband, and the tribesman that day so we received one on one attention. Learning all about the tribe and the history of the tribes in Australia was fascinating. We even managed to catch some crab and were invited back to cook and enjoy the hard won meal with the local tribesman while he shared more stories and history of Australia with us. A day I will never forget.

The time on the Great Barrier Reef was memorable as well. We stayed for two nights aboard a boat that moved to different areas to dive. We had a dedicated dive master and biologist to take us out diving and debrief us afterwards about what we saw. The ship we stayed on was perfect -- good people, good food, and good diving. Would definitely do it again.
