Travel Review: Luxury Family Trip to Iceland, Reykjavik, Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon, Ice Cave Hiking, Snowmobiling, Glaciers

Overall, my family and I (my husband, my adult daughter and I) were very very pleased with the trip and the travel company. Really, they don't have to do much to sell the beauty of Iceland, every day seemed to surpass the day before in terms of the places we visited and the activities that we did. The great thing about using this travel agency was that we got the type of tour that we wanted-it was customized to our requests, we saw a lot of incredible vistas, canyons, waterfalls, glaciers, ice caves, hot springs, went on  boat tours and much more. We were interested in activities as well so we went snowmobiling, glacier hiking and we went through an Ice Cave. Our method was to stay in different hotels on our trip so that we never felt pressed to get back to where we were staying. This way we could stay at a particular place as long as we wanted and the hotel was always only a half hour away at the most. 

I spoke with our agent a few times and he was immensely helpful. His associate Johannes was the guide who took us around and he was enthusiastic, funny and very well informed. We had a fantastic time with him and plan to stay in touch with him. 

The great thing about going on a trip like this with native Icelanders is that we also went off of the beaten path to places that tourists don't usually go. We went to places that were only accessible by super-jeep and we stayed in very nice small farms outside of the city in addition to very nice hotels in other towns. The really fun thing about visiting Iceland this way was that it felt much more authentic. We were amazed at how many places felt "non-commercial" and unspoiled-more like visiting national parks in America rather than Niagara Falls.
