Travel Review: Luxury Kenya & Rwanda Africa Safari, Nairobi, Kinigi, Maasai Mara National Reserve, Gorillas, 6-Day Trip

The whole holiday was amazing so it is hard to pick what was best. The focus of the trip was on animals so the 6 days devoted to that (3 in Rwanda; birds, monkeys and gorillas, and 3 in Kenya; general safari) were the highlights. If one highlight had to be picked then it would have to be the gorillas, standing just feet from them and watching them as they went about their daily business as if we weren't there. Masai Mara also delivered with every animal you could think of, up close and personal, cute, scary, covered in blood, making babies or carrying babies, we saw the lot!
Rwanda was an amazing country and we loved the people, in particular our driver who was a lovely, wise and knowledgeable man. Beyond the animals we visited the genocide museum that was very moving and professionally put together. We also visited two charity projects that we set up ourselves but that our driver got us to. The Hotel in Kinigi was fantastic and they gave us a very nice upgrade to the VIP room (house!) after one day. The staff were really wonderful and the food great. The tour company did a great job of of helping us in Rwanda.
We loved Kenya too, especially Il Moran camp with its genial host. Again, very nice people, great food and wonderful service. And what a location! Our driver was quite a character. He seemed a bit unhappy at times but we soon realized that he was so dedicated to his job that any unhappiness he was feeling was due to the self-perception that he was not delivering. By the end of three days he had delivered magnificently and cheered up a lot. He has eyes in the back of his head and led us to sights that others didn't see.
The best bonus was the fact that I didn't get a single insect bite at any point. Not only that but the weather was dry and moderate throughout. Thanks for the clothing tips, long sleeved teeshirts were ideal for both insects and weather.
