Travel Review: Luxury Trip to Italy & Greece, Rome, Sorrento, Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Delos, Vatican & Colosseum Tours

For me, I would stay longer in each place and probably keep Italy and Greece in separate trips. Staying longer allows you to experience the local life more. Switching hotels every 2 to 3 days was exhausting, but we loved being able to see so many different things and places. For a 15-day trip, we tried to pack lightly. That is important when you need to lug suitcases over cobble-stoned streets. Luckily we did a lot of laundry on Santorini (priced very reasonably), because the cost to do laundry in Rome and Sorrento was crazy expensive. It was much hotter than expected. It was so hot that we sweated through our clothes every day, often twice a day. Not sure if they were having a heat wave or if mid to high 90s is normal for June in Greece and Italy. It was 105 one day in Athens. I would go earlier in the year next time to avoid the heat. I also would have booked private pickups/shuttles for airports. Trying to find a taxi was not always easy. The taxis are very small, so in many cases, we could not fit 4 people and our luggage in a single taxi. We had to get 2 taxis. I would also begin the planning process earlier to allow for a better selection of hotels to ensure I can get the services I desire. We began planning in late March for a June trip. I found it odd that hotel pools closed so early in the evening. There were no lifeguards at any time, but pools closed at 6 or 8 or 9 pm (depending on the hotel). After a full day tour in 98 degree heat, I wanted to take a dip to cool off and got yelled at. The closing times were not documented in check-in materials, so this came as a surprise and a disappointment.
