Travel Review: Mother-Son Trip to Japan, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Cherry Blossom Viewing, Sushi Making Class, Sake Brewery Tour

There is only one adjustment I would make; originally I had hoped to spend a couple of nights in a small, family-owned ryokan. Because we weren't able to get a reservation at a small ryokan, we stayed in a larger hotel in a Japanese-style room for two nights. While the onsen was very nice and the food (breakfast and dinner are included) was excellent, the Japanese-style room and the hotel just aren't as charming and don't feel authentic the way my past experiences in small ryokans have. It worked out just fine, but ideally I would have the small ryokan or if we had to be in a hotel, not opt for the Japanese-style room.
