Travel Review: Solo Tour of Italy & Greece

I enjoyed the trip overall. But I do wish the English proficiency level of some local guide could be improved. Some of them were really confusing. Also, the wine tasting part in Italy is not so enjoyable, because I feel that we did not have the option to choose the location, as well as the wine company. Except of that, I do enjoy the rest of trip

I'm very happy to hear that you had a great trip to both Italy and Greece as a whole, however I did want to quickly address a few of your comments.

In regards to the English proficiency of our guides, this certainly came as a surprise to us as our past clients have never had issues with this.  One thing to consider is that many countries who speak English as their chosen language still have a good amount of variety in terms of vocabulary and grammar even if it is technically all English.  Because of this, depending on where and how the guides learn the language, it will not necessarily reflect the same version of the language spoken in the US (although general understanding should not be difficult).  Naturally, some guides may also have an accent when they speak, with some having more or less of an accent than others.  This is one of the reasons we suggested and arranged small group tours for you, so you could easily ask the guides to clarify or repeat if necessary.                                               

As for the wine tastings, this was part of our very popular small group Tuscan wine excursion from Florence.  Because it is a small group tour, the tasting locations are pre-arranged by the tour company based on availability.  Of course, if you had a particular winery you had wished to visit, we could have certainly offered a private tour, but the cost of a private tour (especially since you were travelling on your own and would not be able to split the cost amongst travel companions) would not have been conducive to your budget.  Since you did not mention any interest in a specific winery, we instead suggested the small group excursion.  This, although you do not choose the wineries, does offer a great scenic view of Tuscany and allows participants to tour local Chianti vineyards and enjoy a tasting of the wines.  It is an ideal option for people who are looking for this experience as a whole, and I apologize if there was any misunderstanding.
