Travel Review: Southeast Asia Vacation, Vietnam, Cambodia, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap, Mekong Delta, Phnom Penh

If I could take the trip again, I would do all  of the same activities but would have added more time in the country. I wouldn't have let my husband eat the unwashed apple given to him at the rural market that made him sick for 2 days! On the other hand I would have eaten in more street restaurants!  I would  have liked more time in each city to go to the local crafts markets or even visit some artisans in rural areas and I would have liked to have been in nature more. For instance, after arriving home, I went online and found that there was a Wildlife Rescue Center near Phnom Penh as well as other wildlife day tours. Of course this would have required a longer trip itinerary which might have been too much for us this time. I definitely want to go back to Southeast Asia and see  more of Cambodia, in addition to Thailand, Laos and Burma.  The Northern area of Vietnam in the highlands around Sapa also beckons me.

*We were very happy with all the hotels on our trip except for the Governor's House in Phnom Penh. That was a bit of a disaster.....but I should not have allowed myself to be given a room with no opening windows or balcony since I am claustrophobic.  When the power went out and we were in total darkness in a tomb-like room I had a panic attack!  For all trips in  So.Asia where the heat can be stifling, it really helps to be able to get out on a balcony or into a garden!
