Travel Review: Tour of Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands

Having taken a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos through this travel agency, I can only give 4 stars fir the following reason. I had sent my passport information to the company and then to their representatives in Ecuador and they failed to notice that the expiry date was less than six months on my passport.

On arriving at the airport the airline told me they could not allow me on the airplane without a passport with more than six to expiry.

I missed my plane that day, had to pay a premium to get a new passport quickly, had to pay extra fees to the airline for my companion (none for me thankfully), extra fees to charter a speedboat to catch up to the yacht that had already left port with the other customers, plus a bunch of other smaller fees, and missing the first and second day of the experience.

The main issue was that they never got back to me with some sort of compensation for my extra expenses, when they should have seen that the passport would be expiring and got back to me with that information months ahead of the trip.

The trip itself was delightful and the people were excellent. Once I was there it was everything I wanted.

Hence the four star rating, but only three stars for the travel companies.
