Travel Review: Tour of France, Paris, Bordeaux, Arcachon, Dune of Pilat, Wine Tasting, History

Our local guide in Bordeaux was just splendid.  She provided a personal touch that I have not experienced in a guide before.  Her familiarity with the history, wineries and sights of Bordeaux made the visit all the more enjoyable.  When there was a mix-up with payment of a taxi by a hotel, she remedied the error, secured a refund for us, and managed to have the hotel upgrade our room on our return stay.  Mistakes happen.  The fact that this one was handled so quickly and professionally was much appreciated.

Our day at Chateau du Taillan Medoc and Chateau Troplong Mondot with our guide and her driver was just delightful.  It was fun to see a small winery and a large one, and the private tours and tastings allowed us to learn more than is sometimes possible in a large group tour.  

The visit to the Dune du Pyla and Arcachon were an unexpected pleasure.  The immensity of the dune can't be described accurately - it must be experienced.  I'm happy that our guide included it in our package.
