Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:

This travel company did an absolutely superb job working with us in putting together an itinerary that combined the types of things we like to do when we travel, with a mix of urban and rural experiences and of different types of accommodations. Every detail was taken care of, and they insured that we were fully supported throughout the trip. They could not have been more responsive.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?

Holi in Udaipur

The Taj Mahal Hotel
Our three days in Deogarh and especially our hosts
The morning yoga session and village visit in Jaipur, and especially our yoga instructor
The tiger and leopard at Rathambore and the leopard at Panna
The Taj Mahal
The three days at the hotel in Toria, and in particular our host
The morning boat trip on the Ganges with the tabla and sitar musicians was both magical and spiritual.
Getting to know our driver who, in addition to being a great driver, is a delightful person.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?

The trip to Ranakpur for the trek and overnight stay could have been skipped. The trek was pleasant, but not worth the trip and the lodge for us left something to be desired, especially compared to the lodge in Deogarh. It would have been better to have another day in Deogarh and to have found a trek to do there.
The drive from the Orcha fort outside of Jhansi to Saria at Toria was very long, and while the train ride from Agra to Jhansi was interesting, overall we would have preferred simply flying from Agra to Khujuraho, arriving at Saria earlier in the day and skipping the Orcha fort.
In Varanasi the drive out to Bhadohi was long and the Ranmnagar Fort on the way not that interesting as most of it is closed to tourists. I think we would have preferred to spend the day walking around Varanasi.
In Varanasi the hotel is in a wonderful location, and the room was comfortable, with all the needed amenities. However, on the food and beverage side, the hotel needs to do some work. They have no bar, hence no gin and tonics to sip while sitting on their wonderful terrace watching the boat traffic on the Ganges float by, their vegetarian kitchen is a bit limited and the service on the terrace is not very attentive.
